Scott (and Susie) Vance

Spokane Valley, WA

SITUATION

Scott inherited minerals from his parents. The checks had produced well for his parents and were steadily producing for Scott and Susie, but they didn’t know anything about their asset. They kept getting calls from mineral companies but had no interest in selling. They had always heard “never sell your minerals,” and that sounded like solid advice in a volatile market.

APPROACH

The Vances ended up taking a call with Lucas from Blue Flame, and they could tell Blue Flame’s approach was different. They did not feel any pressure to sell, and the process felt owner-focused, patient and transparent. Lucas made it clear that the goal was to manage this legacy well for Scott and Susie and future generations, whether that involved selling or not.

RESULTS

As the Vances walked through the process of understanding their acreage, Blue Flame found that they were not in pay for 200 acres under an operator and upon investigating, recovered suspended funds they never knew they had. After looking at their asset and their goals, they decided to sell 50% of one section that was not producing as they hoped and take control into their hands of growing that money.

The Vances now have a large amount of capital to reinvest, have recovered acreage they never knew they had, and still own minerals that can produce for their family.
